The short version

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
  • We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and visitors do not need an account.
  • When you give online, PayPal handles your payment. We never see or store your card or bank details.
  • Photos on this website are published with permission, and we will remove any photo on request.

Information we collect

When you give online

Online gifts are processed by PayPal. You approve the payment in a PayPal window, using your PayPal account or a debit or credit card. PayPal then shares with us your name, your email address, the amount and whether the gift is one-time or monthly. If you give in honor or in memory of someone, we also keep the name you enter.

We use this to record your gift, thank you, send acknowledgements, and keep the financial records a nonprofit must keep. PayPal emails your receipt. PayPal’s own use of your information is described in the PayPal Privacy Statement.

Gifts that are started but not completed are deleted from our records after two days.

When you give by Zelle, check or gift card

We receive the details you or your bank send, such as your name and the memo you add, and use them to record and acknowledge your gift.

When you email or call us

We use your name, email address or phone number to answer you and, if you ask, to arrange volunteering, a school drive, a sponsorship or help for a family. Email addresses on this website are shown in a way that keeps them away from spam robots.

Sponsors

With a sponsor’s permission we show its name, logo, sponsorship level and website link on the Sponsors page and homepage. Sponsors can ask us to change or remove their listing at any time.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run the site and protect it from attacks. To stop abuse, the website briefly remembers the number of donation attempts and failed logins from an internet address, for up to an hour.

Cookies

The website does not set cookies for visitors. Cookies are only used when Harvest Drive staff log in to manage the website.

Videos on our About page come from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode: YouTube does not set cookies until you press play. When you play a video, YouTube (Google) receives information about your visit under the Google Privacy Policy. Our fonts are served from our own website, not from Google.

Photos of students and volunteers

Our galleries show students, families and volunteers taking part in Harvest Drive events. Photos are published with the permission of the schools and organizations that host those events, and we avoid identifying children by name.

If you would like a photo of yourself or your child removed, contact us with the page address or a description of the photo and we will take it down promptly.

Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to run Harvest Drive:

  • PayPal, to process online gifts.
  • Our website host, which stores the website and its records.
  • Schools and partner agencies, only when needed to deliver help a family has asked for.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share donor lists with other organizations.

How long we keep information

We keep gift records for as long as needed for our financial, tax and audit records. Emails are kept only as long as needed to help you. You can ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.

How we protect information

The website uses a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). Donor details can be seen only by a small number of website administrators, and payment details never pass through our website.

Children’s privacy

The website is not designed to collect information from children, and online giving is for adults. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • Ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Ask us to remove a photo, or a sponsor listing.
  • Give by check or gift card if you prefer not to give online.

To do any of these, contact us using the details above.

Links to other websites

Sponsor logos and some buttons link to other websites, such as PayPal and our sponsors. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.

Let’s grow kindness together.
